At Dudhope Multicultural Centre (Bharatiya Ashram), we believe no older person should feel isolated or forgotten. Our centre is more than just a building — it is a warm, welcoming community space where elderly people from all backgrounds can meet, socialise, share experiences, and feel valued.
Through cultural gatherings, wellbeing activities, gentle exercise sessions, shared meals, and community support, we help create friendships and connections that improve mental health and reduce loneliness. Many older adults in our community face challenges such as isolation, language barriers, or limited family support, and Dudhope Centre provides a safe and inclusive environment where they can belong.
We were pleased to welcome representative Carol Anderson from Age Scotland to our centre on 10.03.2026, where she met with members of our community to share information about the services and support available. She provided Pension Credit and other information leaflets and explained how people can access Pension Credit and various support services. She also highlighted that large amounts of support go unclaimed each year because many people are unaware of what they may be entitled to or how to apply.
Community members were encouraged to contact Age Scotland directly for further guidance and support through the application process. It was a valuable and informative visit, giving people the opportunity to ask questions, receive guidance, and learn more about the help available to them. We greatly appreciate the time taken to answer questions and support our community.
As the need for elderly support continues to grow, we are asking for help from the wider community. Donations and support allow us to continue offering activities, advice, transport assistance, and social opportunities that make a real difference in people’s lives.
Together, we can ensure our elderly community remains connected, respected, and supported.
