Feeding the vulnerable during the pandemic

a New service to the vulnerable to replace our lunch clubs

Our regular lunch clubs have been cancelled during the pandemic, leaving the elderly and people shielding in total isolation. But thanks to the Scottish Government , Al-Maktoum College of Higher Education and Faith in Community Dundee for their funding, we have been able to provide lunch delivery to 26+ people on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays.

Each meal has two portions to make sure that everyone has at least one warm and nutritious meal every day! On top of that, we were delivering groceries that they need, to avoid our vulnerable from having to go out during this time.

A growing List of local supporters

We have received a lot of food donation from local organization. For example, in June, we received a lot of potatoes, carrots, swedes, kale and onions from Link Up Whitfield who kindly donated their extra produce to us! We managed to reuse the paper bags to serve our lunches. These donation really helped in providing for more people and they have made many more happy elderly and vulnerable ! Thank you for thinking of us and delivering the produce to our Centre!

We have also been receiving weekly produce from Intelligent Growth Solutions for our cooking! Check out this wee article they put up on their page about our collaboration to learn more about how they work and photos from our first visit to see their work.

Huge thanks to IGS for the produce and Faith in Community Dundee for putting us in touch with them in the first place!

Local Celebrities

Our project featured in the news at several occasion, showing the importance of looking after our local community.

We were first interviewed in May by That’s TV Scotland just before we started our Lunch Club Project and we're glad that since then, we've had two more funders, many well-wishers and people donating to our cause and we've had all our spaces filled for lunches.
